Papercut Patterns Moana Top

Oh, how I love this top! Of course it has a ruffle! I said I would be back with my other Papercut patterns make and here it is- the Moana! There is also a version to make a dress with a gathered skirt but as I’ve said before, I really needed more tops in my wardrobe. This pattern is so perfect for wearing with high waisted pants and can be layered up with a cardigan (that I immediately put on after these photos were taken)!

I made this top in just a couple hours. I made one change to the pattern. This pattern calls for an exposed zipper at the back of the neck but I’m not a fan of exposed zippers. Since this pattern has a facing, I just stitched up that seam so I would have a slit and I added a piece of elastic and button at the top. It worked perfectly!

As far as fit, I cut the smallest size and I’m pretty happy with it. I was worried it was going to be too short in the front because I have a long torso but it’s actually perfect. The arm holes could maybe be a little smaller but I don’t think it’s necessary. I think the next time I make one, I will adjust the placement of the bodice darts slightly.

THIS FABRIC! I placed my first order with Sew Me Sunshine. If you haven’t heard of this fabric shop before, it’s run by Harriet in the UK and she stocks the most amazing fabrics. I’ve been wanting to order from her for such a long time. One night I felt like browsing, and I had to order this Woodland viscose. It’s such a pretty berry color that I don’t have in my wardrobe and it has the cutest little woodland animals on it. The fabric is made in Spain and is so lovely. I was really worried about working with viscose but it sewed up beautifully.

I’m so excited about this top and I can already tell that I’m going to get a lot of wear out it!
