I’m back for part two of my shorts series! I really love these Deer and Doe Chataigne shorts. A super high waist, front pockets (the back ones are faux) and scalloped details make them a winner for me. I paired them with a floral tee shirt I found thrifting but they could definitely be dressed up too with a blouse.
Pattern: Deer and Doe Chataigne Shorts I made Version B with the high waist and scalloped trim. Version A has a regular waist and cuffs.
Were they easy to make? Yes! The instructions were easy to follow. I definitely think this pattern is for a more experienced sewer though, with the invisible zipper and scallop detail.
Pattern Adjustments? I made no adjustments.
Fit? I made the smallest size and the fit is perfect for me.
Fabric choice? I used a twill fabric from Jo Ann’s. I’ve been loving this color lately!
Anything to watch out for? I made a silly mistake. You are supposed to trace the scallops on the facing to stitch along the lines but I cut them out. I didn’t have enough fabric left to recut/trace on the facing so I used a floral cotton. It ended up being a happy mistake because I love little details like that. That’s what’s so great about making your own clothes!
Would you make it again? Yes!
I will be back on Monday with the final pair of shorts in my series. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
