Hello! I’ve been quite productive with my sewing this past week. I made a jumper, a pouch, hemmed some jeans and re worked this dress! Oh, and I took a class all about hems over the weekend! I enjoyed it very much and hope to share what I learned on here.
I made this dress last year. It’s a Butterick pattern by Gertie. I wanted this dress but it was out of my budget. I came across the same fabric and realized I could make something very similar with this pattern! This cotton fabric is Michael Miller and it’s too cute! Bunnies and deer? I needed it!
I only wore this dress once, maybe twice last year. I actually didn’t like it at all. It felt too long and there was a weird poof/ excess fabric on the side panels. I took it to my hems class and removed about four inches so it hits right above my knee now. I also opened up the bodice and removed some of that extra fabric. It’s still not perfect but it’s much better now. Has anyone else made this pattern? I was curious if anyone else had issues with the fit in the bodice.
I’ll be back soon with a post on my jumper! If you follow me on instagram, you probably have already seen a peek of it.
Very cute dress!
Thanks so much!
